A PR AGENCY IN KOLKATA should get you found, not just printed.

You have a file of press clippings, but when you ask ChatGPT about your industry, a competitor shows up instead. Sound familiar?

That gap is why a lot of brands start searching for a digital PR agency in Kolkata. Does this sound like your situation?

Your clippings weren’t a waste.

They just weren’t planned so search engines and AI tools could find them and connect them to you.

Ahrefs looked at 75,000 brands and found brand mentions on other websites correlate 0.664 with visibility in Google’s AI Overviews. Backlinks scored 0.218.

This means Google and ChatGPT believe what others write about you more than what you write about yourself.

That’s why AB Media Co starts with a map of the publications and trade websites that AI tools already cite for your industry in India.

You get that target list before you sign anything, and you can use it to check each pitch.

From there, your public relations work runs on two separate tracks. Earned stories go to journalists when you have news or a founder view worth quoting, and sponsored features always carry the publication’s sponsored label.

Some things are off the table. AB Media Co doesn’t run events, doesn’t manage celebrities, films or influencers, and doesn’t sell crisis management.

It also never presents a paid placement as earned.

The best proof I can show you is TalentGum, a kids’ learning brand. Its PR, AI SEO and paid media ran as one plan, and its domain authority tripled.

A quick note on location. AB Media Co works out of WeWork Forum in DLF Cyber City, Gurgaon, and has no Kolkata office.

Most of your meetings with the team happen over video. This works well for PR, because your coverage and search data look the same from Salt Lake or anywhere else in India.

THE KOLKATA MEDIA MAP FOR DIGITAL PR, and how it shapes your plan.

KOLKATA, INDIA

If you work with AB Media Co, a PR firm in Kolkata or a public relations agency in Kolkata, these four facts should shape where your stories run.

01

Bengali PR reaches readers English can’t

Anandabazar Patrika is a Bengali daily published in Kolkata, with a certified average circulation of 802,289 copies in January to June 2022. If your customers read Bengali, a story written for a Bengali desk will likely do more than a translated English press release.

02

AI search in Bengali is live

Google rolled out AI Mode in Bengali in October 2025, along with six other Indian languages. When your customers ask in Bengali, AI search needs Bengali sources to cite, so Bengali media coverage helps your visibility too.

03

Your PR map can cover the whole east

According to IBEF, West Bengal is a traditional market for eastern India and the Northeast. If you sell into Guwahati, Patna or Bhubaneswar, the publications your customers there read belong on your target list.

04

Property PR follows an ad rule

West Bengal RERA has told builders to display the registration number and website address clearly in each project ad. A sponsored feature about your project is paid publicity, so it should carry those details too.

Digital PR in Kolkata that starts with a citation map

Before anyone writes a pitch, you see which websites AI tools cite when they recommend a competitor, and which of them never mention you. Your target list comes from that map.

  2. 02

Earned media that journalists can use

Data, founder commentary and product news, pitched to the journalists who cover your industry in Kolkata and across India. If there’s no news, there’s no pitch.

  3. 03

Sponsored features with the sponsored label

Paid features in publications such as Forbes, Outlook, Business Standard, Hindustan Times, Digital Journal and the trade press, agreed in the proposal and reported apart from earned PR.

  4. 04

    Press releases, syndicated monthly

Fully Managed Services clients get 2 to 3 syndicated press releases a month, built around actual updates. Think of each one as a public record, not a headline.

  5. 05

Media coverage for brands in Kolkata, in Bengali and English

Your Bengali and English stories are planned side by side, for Kolkata desks, the eastern region and the national press, with the same facts in each.

  6. 06

Brand mentions that help AI SEO and AI search

Each placement is chosen for its effect on your brand mentions and branded search. Any paid link is marked sponsored, as Google’s spam policies require.

  7. 07

    Monthly tracking you can check

You get branded search, referral traffic and AI answer checks each month, compared against where you started. Advertising value equivalency isn’t used, because it counts nothing a customer did.

HIRING A PR AGENCY IN KOLKATA: the questions you’re asking.

REAL QUESTIONS, ANSWERED PROPERLY

Which is the best PR agency in Kolkata?

The best PR agency in Kolkata for your brand is the one that shows you its target publications up front and keeps earned and sponsored coverage apart in its reports.

A ranking page can’t show you either of those things. How can you check, then?

People search for “pr agency kolkata”, “top pr agency in kolkata”, “best pr companies in kolkata” and “top 10 pr agencies in kolkata”. Most of those lists are written by agencies, and some rank themselves first.

This is a fair place to start, and you can use those lists to build a shortlist of each PR company in Kolkata you like. But a stack of clippings can look impressive and still do nothing for your sales.

Here’s how you can test any agency on your list. Ask which publications it would target for you, and why those.

Ask how it labels sponsored features and who talks to journalists.

What happens in a month with no news? A good agency has an answer.

Watch out for anyone who promises you a named publication. Journalists decide what runs, so earned coverage can’t be guaranteed.

Pick the agency that can explain where your story will appear and why it matters for search.

What does a PR agency in Kolkata actually do?

A PR agency gets journalists, publications and trade websites to talk about your brand, and digital PR is the part of that work you can find online and track.

People search for “what does a pr agency do” and “what can a pr agency do for you”, which tells me the job isn’t obvious from the outside.

Here’s what a typical month of digital PR should look like for you.

Someone checks which sources Google and ChatGPT use and cite for your industry. Someone finds a story, for example a data point or a founder view, and pitches it to the journalists who cover that beat in India.

Someone books any agreed sponsored features, each one with its label. Then someone tracks each placement and explains what changed in your branded search.

What it shouldn’t be is a press release blasted to 500 email addresses.

Journalists delete those, and this habit can also hurt your next pitch.

The downside? Earned media depends on news, so some months might bring you more sponsored reach than earned stories.

If you can’t see what was pitched and why, you aren’t really buying PR.

Do you handle events, film or celebrity PR in Kolkata?

No, AB Media Co only does digital PR, for brands that want coverage that builds search and AI visibility.

There are no events, launches or press conferences, no celebrity, film or influencer management, and no crisis management.

I’m upfront about this because many people looking for a PR agency in Kolkata need exactly those services. They’re skilled public relations jobs.

Event PR needs a crew on the ground. Film and celebrity PR depends on entertainment desk relationships, and crisis work needs someone reachable at 2 a.m.

What you get from AB Media Co is narrower, and this is on purpose. It’s earned stories and clearly labeled sponsored features in publications across India, plus tracking of what that coverage did for your branded search and AI answers.

Let’s say you run a Kolkata jewelry brand planning a Durga Puja launch event. You’d want an event agency for the evening, and a digital PR team for the stories people find in search afterwards.

If you need an event or a celebrity, hire a specialist. Digital PR can work alongside them.

How much does a PR agency in Kolkata cost?

It depends on scope, so think in bands rather than one price.

PRmoment India puts PR fees at about ₹25K a month for small D2C brands and ₹3L to ₹5L a month for large ones. A second guide says most agencies want a six-month minimum.

These are other agencies’ published claims, so use them as a rough range for India.

People also search for “how much does a pr agency cost in india” and “how much do pr agencies charge”. Why two searches? Because the answer has two parts.

The agency fee covers strategy, writing and pitching. Sponsored placements are paid space, priced by each publication, and they cost extra. Ask any PR agency in Kolkata to show you both separately.

Working with AB Media Co on Kolkata PR begins with a free mini audit. The full audit is ₹30,000, and that amount is adjusted against your first month’s fee.

What most people fear is paying for months with nothing to show. That happens when the fee isn’t tied to anything you can track.

Branded search is hard to fake, so use it to compare each PR quote you get.

How long does PR take to show results?

Your first placements can appear within weeks, but changing what Google and AI tools say about your industry takes months of steady coverage.

People search for “how long does pr take”, and there are really two timelines in that question.

Publishing is fast. A sponsored feature can go live soon after you agree it, and an earned story might run within days if a journalist likes the angle.

Search is slower. Google and ChatGPT have to find your coverage, link it to your brand and see it repeated across several sources before their answers shift.

At AB Media Co, the first 30 days build the citation map and the first pitches. Placements follow, and around six months is when you’d likely see branded search and AI answers move.

Use those as working markers, not an industry standard.

The biggest mistake here? Stopping after one strong month, just as search starts paying attention.

Give your PR six months of steady coverage before you decide if it’s helping you.

Digital PR vs traditional PR: which is better for a Kolkata brand?

Neither wins everywhere, so choose based on where your customers make up their minds.

Traditional PR is built for print, TV and events. Digital PR is made for online publications, search engines and AI answers.

People search for “digital pr vs traditional pr” and “digital pr vs seo”. Here’s how I think about both.

For example, if your customers decide from a front page or a TV segment, traditional PR still matters. If they search, compare and ask ChatGPT before calling you, digital PR matters more.

The two also overlap. A print story in a Kolkata daily often has an online version, and that page is what carries your brand mention into search.

Here’s a simple question you can use on any coverage: will it exist as a page with your name on it?

Digital PR also helps your AI SEO, but it isn’t link building. You aim for stories people read, and links follow.

The catch is reach versus tracking. Print reaches readers a click won’t, but you can’t see what it did for you.

Can PR get my brand into ChatGPT answers and help AI SEO?

PR is one of the strongest ways to influence AI answers, but nobody can promise you a ChatGPT mention, and that includes me.

What PR can do is give AI tools more independent sources that mention your name in the right context.

Here’s why that matters. Muck Rack’s May 2026 study of more than 25 million links cited by ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini found earned media made up 84% of citations. Paid and advertorial content made up just 0.3%.

This changes how you should plan.

Earned stories carry the most weight with AI search, and they help your brand show up in more answers.

Sponsored features help with reach and keep your story consistent. But they’re rarely the page an AI tool quotes, so don’t buy them as an AI search strategy on their own.

For AI SEO, coverage also builds branded search and the authority of your own website. That’s part of how TalentGum’s domain authority tripled.

A common mistake is letting two teams run PR and AI SEO without talking. My rule: plan them together, or you’ll pay for both and get half of each.

What is paid PR in India, and is a Forbes sponsored article worth it?

Paid PR means paying a publication for space, and it can be worth it in the right title if it’s labeled and you know you’re buying reach, not an editor’s endorsement.

People search for “what is paid pr”, “paid pr india”, “forbes sponsored article cost” and “how to get featured in forbes india”.

A sponsored feature puts your story in front of a publication’s readers, in your words and on your date.

This is useful for a launch, for example a product going on sale across India.

But it doesn’t carry the weight of a journalist choosing to write about you.

The Press Council of India’s norms say advertisements must be clearly distinguishable from news. Google’s spam policies say paid links must be marked sponsored or nofollow. That means the label isn’t optional.

At AB Media Co, sponsored placements are agreed in the proposal, keep the publication’s label, and are reported apart from earned coverage. No named publication is ever promised to you.

If you need reach, paying for it is fine. Just don’t let anyone call it earned.

Should I hire a PR agency, a freelancer or an in-house PR person?

It depends on how much news you have and how much of the work needs to connect to search.

A freelancer might suit one story or a small budget. An in-house person makes sense when you have news every week. An agency fits when pitching, sponsored planning, tracking and search have to work together.

People search for “pr agency vs in house” and “pr agent vs publicist”, so you’re in good company.

A freelancer gives you a direct line to the person doing the work, usually at a lower cost. The catch is depth, since one person rarely covers Kolkata desks, the national press and search at once.

An in-house hire knows your business best. But they need a steady flow of news to stay useful.

An agency brings a team and continuity, though you can end up paying senior fees for junior pitching. Ask who will actually write and send your pitches. Can you meet that person?

If you have one launch and a tight budget, I’d point you to a freelancer.

Should a Kolkata brand pitch Bengali media or the national press?

Usually both, planned as one story told in two ways.

Bengali coverage reaches readers English doesn’t, and national coverage reaches customers and AI tools across India.

Anandabazar Patrika had a certified average circulation of 802,289 copies in January to June 2022. An English story alone won’t reach that audience.

And since October 2025, Google’s AI Mode answers in Bengali. That makes Bengali coverage a source AI search can cite when your customers ask in Bengali.

Here’s how you can use this.

Find the local angle, like a Kolkata store, a Bengal supplier or regional data, and pitch it to Bengali and Kolkata desks.

Then find the national angle, like an industry trend or a founder view, and pitch it to the business press in India.

Use the same facts in both versions, so Google and ChatGPT see your brand as one consistent name.

A common mistake is sending a machine-translated English press release to a Bengali desk. Editors notice immediately.

Is PR worth it for startups and real estate brands in Kolkata?

It can be, but for different reasons, and timing matters more than budget.

A Kolkata startup needs coverage that makes it credible before customers or investors ask an AI tool about it. A developer needs coverage that builds trust while following RERA’s advertising rules.

People search for “pr agency for startups in india” and “pr agency for real estate”.

For a startup, the trap is paying for sponsored features before there’s a story, so the coverage reads like an ad. Wait until you have a launch, a customer result you can share or data journalists can use in a story.

For real estate, there’s a compliance step. WBRERA wants the registration number and website address shown clearly in project ads.

A sponsored feature about a project is paid publicity, so it should carry those details. Earned stories about your track record will likely build more trust than any paid write-up.

In both cases, track your branded search and whether AI answers start to mention you. That helps you see if your PR is working.

What are the biggest PR mistakes brands make?

The biggest one is paying for coverage that nobody can find later. Why is that such a big deal?

A story that only exists in print, or a page that drops your brand name, does very little for search or AI answers.

People search for “common pr mistakes” and “biggest pr mistakes”. These are the ones I see cost brands in India the most.

You pay for a famous logo instead of readers. One big sponsored feature followed by silence won’t help much, because consistency across many sources matters more.

You call paid coverage earned. That misleads your own team, and an unmarked paid link breaks Google’s spam policies.

You pitch without news. Journalists remember a weak pitch, and it makes your next good one harder to place.

You use advertising value equivalency. It turns column inches into a rupee figure nobody ever paid.

You run PR apart from AI SEO. The stories go live, but your own website doesn’t answer the questions they raise.

My rule: buy coverage you can find again, and keep it steady.
