Digital is where Indian ad money went
According to the FICCI-EY report, India’s digital ad revenue grew 26% in 2025. More brands now bid for the same feeds and search results, so a poor creative or a broken tag costs you more than it used to.
MUMBAI’S AUCTION IS CROWDED. Pay for customers, not reach.
You’ve searched for a performance marketing agency in Mumbai, and each one says it’s the best in India. But your cost per click keeps rising anyway. My name is Akshit Bhasin, and here’s what I’d look at first in your ad accounts.

Who else wants your customer in Mumbai?
Often it’s a funded D2C label, a national bank or a developer with a launch budget. Your cost per click shows how long that list is.
The mistake I see most often is simple. A brand grows on low-cost Meta reach, costs rise, and the answer is more budget or a new performance marketing agency.
But nobody checks what the platforms learn from. Broken tracking, COD returns counted as sales and lead forms full of junk all teach Google and Meta the wrong lesson.
That’s why my team starts with your data. We agree the metric you care about, like ROAS after returns or cost per lead your sales team accepts, and track it from your store or CRM.
The best proof I can share took patience. An ecommerce brand AB Media Co has worked with for about two and a half years sees Meta returns about 36x the norm, because years of AI SEO built a warm audience the ads could find again.
AB Media Co is based in Gurgaon, at WeWork Forum in DLF Cyber City, with no Mumbai office.
Most meetings happen on video calls. Your ad account looks the same on a screen in Andheri as it does in Gurgaon, so that’s where I’d start.
Mumbai brands compete in some of India’s most crowded and most regulated ad categories. Whichever performance marketing company you choose, plan around these four facts.
According to the FICCI-EY report, India’s digital ad revenue grew 26% in 2025. More brands now bid for the same feeds and search results, so a poor creative or a broken tag costs you more than it used to.
Google requires financial services verification in India, listing RBI, SEBI, IRDAI and other regulators, enforced since January 2023. Meta has enforced verification for securities and investment ads in India since July 2025. If you’re a Mumbai broker, lender or insurer, finish both before launch.
MahaRERA has required a prominent QR code in ads for registered projects since August 2023, with penalties of ₹10K to ₹50K per violation. In one enforcement round, 312 of the 628 projects fined over missing QR codes and registration numbers were in the Mumbai region.

Meta says an ad set needs about 50 optimization events in a week to leave the learning phase. In a crowded Mumbai auction, that means you should use fewer ad sets with more budget each, not a thin budget spread across ten audiences.
Your pixel, Conversions API, offline conversions and consent get checked first. This helps Meta and Google learn which clicks became paying customers, not which became returns.
As your PPC agency in Mumbai, the team runs pay per click Search campaigns on high-intent keywords and Performance Max where your data supports it. You see the search terms and can check each rupee.
Short video, creator-style and static Facebook ads, with fresh creative on a schedule. In a crowded auction, creative is usually the lowest-cost performance marketing lever you have left.
Financial services verification in India, SEBI details on investment ads, MahaRERA numbers and QR codes on property ads, and consent built into your forms.
Google Search, Performance Max, Meta, YouTube, LinkedIn for B2B, and click-to-WhatsApp ads where a chat brings better leads than a form. Budget moves weekly to where customers decide.
If your customers write to you in Hindi or Marathi, the team tests native-language creative against English, with the same offer and landing page, and keeps whichever sells more.
Your Business Manager, your Google account and your card, with full admin access for you. End the engagement, and the accounts stay yours.
These two come from the 100+ brands my team has worked with, and both needed more than new ads. Soni Cosmetics grew monthly sales 7x once the ads and the store were fixed together. Juhi Nanda couldn’t hold 1x ROAS in slow months, and after the tracking and funnel underneath were rebuilt, its peak months now run at 6x.
A growing beauty brand was paying for clicks its store couldn’t convert. We fixed the ads and the store together. Monthly sales grew 7x.
A founder-led brand couldn’t hold 1x ROAS in slow months. We rebuilt the tracking and funnel underneath. Peak months now run at 6x.
REAL QUESTIONS, ANSWERED PROPERLY
The best performance marketing agency in Mumbai for you is the one that tracks your revenue after returns, not just platform ROAS.
People search “best performance marketing agency in mumbai” and “top performance marketing agency in mumbai”, and the results are full of agencies from across India with confident numbers.
But how do you tell them apart? Use four questions on the first call.
How will you track ROAS once COD returns and discounts come out?
Who makes the creative, and how many new ads will you test each month?
What happens to the pixel, audiences and ad accounts if I leave?
And what would you cut first in this account today?
A poor answer talks about guaranteed ROAS. No marketing agency can promise that, because no one controls the auction.
This test also works for a large firm, a small Google Ads agency or a solo freelancer.
I recommend the marketing agency that asks about your margins before it asks about your budget.
Performance marketing is advertising you pay for and track against a sale, lead or install, and good performance marketing services cover everything that result depends on.
That means tracking, ad accounts, creative, landing pages, WhatsApp flows and reporting, not just bids. It also includes pay per click ads on Google, where you pay only when someone clicks.
Here’s the process. You agree a goal with your agency, for example purchases at a target ROAS, or leads at a target CPL.
Then the agency sets up your pixel and Conversions API, so Google Ads and Meta can see each conversion, from click to paying customer.
The platforms use that data to find more people like your customers. Your agency’s job is to help them with better data and better creative, then move budget weekly to what works.
People also search “performance marketing vs brand marketing”. Brand ads build awareness you can’t always track to a sale. Performance marketing ties spend to an outcome you can check.
You’ll likely need both in Mumbai, because brand demand makes performance marketing cheaper over time.
If an agency can’t show you which events your campaigns optimize for, it isn’t doing performance marketing yet.
Plan for three costs: the agency fee, your ad spend and 18% GST on Google India’s invoices.
Published guides in India put performance marketing fees from about ₹50K to ₹300K a month plus 10 to 20% of ad spend. Startup-focused guides put fuller engagements at ₹50K to ₹300K a month. Those are other agencies’ claims, so treat them as bands, not prices.
People also search “google ads cost in india per month”. This has no fixed answer, because your cost per click depends on who else bids for your customer.
Let’s say you sell skincare and spend ₹2 lakh a month on Meta. A fee that’s a percentage of spend grows each time you scale, even if your CAC doesn’t improve.
A fixed fee tied to a clear metric, like sales or qualified leads, is usually cleaner.
Working with AB Media Co opens with a free mini audit of your accounts. The full audit is priced at ₹30,000, adjusted against your first month’s fee if you continue.
Your ad spend goes on your own card, so you can see each rupee.
If your budget is small, a strong freelancer might suit you better than any marketing agency.
You’ll likely see early signals within a month, and a reliable read on ROAS or cost per lead in about three months.
Why not sooner? Each campaign has a learning phase. Meta says an ad set needs about 50 optimization events in a week to leave it.
If your cost per purchase is ₹800, one ad set needs roughly ₹40K a week to learn. If you can’t spend that, use fewer ad sets, or optimize for an earlier conversion like add to cart while you build volume.
Here’s how the first quarter usually runs. In month one, the tracking gets fixed and the account gets rebuilt.
In months two and three, weekly tests show which offers, audiences and creatives sell.
After that, you scale what your store data confirms and cut what only the dashboard liked.
B2B and property campaigns take longer, because leads turn into deals over weeks or months.
A common mistake is cutting a campaign in week two because the cost per result looks high. Is it failing? Usually it’s still learning.
Nobody controls an auction’s timeline. But with clean tracking, three months is a fair test of any performance marketing plan.
A freelancer suits one channel and a modest budget, while a performance marketing agency suits several channels that need to work together.
People search “performance marketing companies in mumbai” and “digital marketing freelancer mumbai” side by side, so this is a common choice.
A freelancer gives you a direct line to the person running your ads, at a lower cost. The downside is cover, because one person rarely handles Google Ads, Facebook ads, tracking and creative equally well.
An agency gives you a team and continuity. But check who’ll run your account, because a senior pitch sometimes hands off to junior staff.
Let’s say you’re a new D2C label spending ₹50K a month on Instagram. A strong freelancer can serve you well.
Now say you’re a bank or developer running Google Ads, Meta and WhatsApp campaigns with compliance checks. Here a full team is usually worth the fee.
Either way, use the first call to check who owns the ad accounts and how they’ll track sales and leads, not clicks.
I recommend whoever can walk you through last week’s changes and the reason for each.
Start with Facebook ads if people don’t search for your product yet, and Google Ads if they already do.
People search “social media marketing agency in mumbai for d2c” because most new labels sell on Instagram first.
Facebook ads and Instagram ads create demand. They show your product to people who weren’t looking, which suits fashion, beauty and food brands.
Google Ads catches demand. Someone searching for a vitamin C serum for oily skin wants to buy now, so Search often has a higher conversion rate once people know what they want.
What happens over time? The two feed each other. Meta builds awareness, and that can help your branded searches on Google grow.
My starting split is simple. Put most of your budget on Meta with three to five creative concepts, and run a small Google Search campaign on your brand name and top product keywords.
Then use your store data to track blended ROAS, not each platform’s own report, because both will take credit for the same order.
If your performance marketing budget only covers one channel, choose the one where your customer already is.
Count only orders that were delivered and paid for, then send those outcomes back to Meta and Google.
Cash on delivery is common in India, and returns quietly eat into the revenue an ad platform reports.
Let’s say Ads Manager shows a ROAS of 2. If a quarter of your COD orders come back, and you pay shipping both ways, that account might lose money on many sales.
Here’s how to fix this number. Pull delivered orders from your store or courier data. Subtract discounts and returns. Then divide by spend for a ROAS you can trust.
Next, use the Conversions API to send a conversion value that matches what you received. This helps Meta find people who pay, not people who refuse the parcel.
You can also nudge customers toward prepaid orders on WhatsApp after checkout, for example with a small prepaid discount, and track how that changes your return rate.
The CAC you can afford depends on margin after returns, not on the platform’s revenue figure.
If your performance marketing agency reports ROAS without asking about COD, ask it to rebuild the report from your store data.
For securities and investment ads in India, yes, Meta asks you to verify, and Google runs its own financial services verification.
On Meta, a SEBI-registered advertiser verifies with its registration number. If you’re exempt, there’s an alternate identity check, and the ad carries a disclaimer.
Meta began enforcing this in July 2025, according to MediaNama. Google’s verification lists regulators including RBI, SEBI and IRDAI, so a Mumbai broker, lender or insurer running lead generation has work to do on both platforms.
A common mistake is launching first and verifying later. Campaigns stall in review, the launch slips, and someone rewrites creative in a hurry, which is how risky claims slip in.
The order I’d use is simple. Verify on Google and Meta before any creative is final.
Your compliance team can help with approved claims and disclaimers. Build your Google Ads and Meta ads inside those lines, and keep a record of approvals.
I’m not a lawyer, and SEBI’s own advertising rules come first. Your compliance team should sign off each ad.
Verification first, creative second, budget last.
Ads for a MahaRERA-registered project need the project’s QR code, shown prominently with the registration number and the MahaRERA website.
The QR code rule has applied since August 2023. A violation draws a penalty of ₹10K to ₹50K, according to the order.
MahaRERA does enforce it. A 2024 Storyboard18 report counted 628 projects fined over missing QR codes and registration numbers, and 312 were in the Mumbai region.
People search “real estate lead generation company in mumbai”, but leads mean little if your ads get flagged.
Digital formats make this tricky. For example, a QR code on a fast Reel or a small banner is hard to read, and auto-generated creative might crop it out.
This means you should plan the format. Put the registration number and QR code where people can read them on static ads and video frames, on the landing page above the form, in your lead form’s intro, and in any WhatsApp reply that shares the brochure.
Rules change, so check the current MahaRERA orders with your legal team before a big launch.
If people can’t scan your QR code from the ad, assume the regulator can’t either.
Yes, because your ad accounts don’t have an address. The performance marketing work happens inside Google, Meta and your sales data, wherever in India your agency sits.
What does matter? Whether the agency understands your Mumbai customer, and whether you can see its decisions weekly.
Here’s where AB Media Co stands. The team is based in Gurgaon, at WeWork Forum in DLF Cyber City, and has no Mumbai office.
Most meetings happen on video, with your ad account on screen. A weekly call where you can see each change often does more than a monthly visit with slides.
A remote agency should also learn your geography. South Mumbai, the western suburbs, Thane and Navi Mumbai might need different offers, delivery promises and even languages.
It should give you access to everything, so distance hides nothing.
The bigger risk has nothing to do with distance. It’s an agency that keeps your accounts in its own name or can’t explain last week’s budget changes.
Judge any agency by what you can see and check, not by how far away it sits.
The biggest one is trusting the platform’s revenue figure over your own store data.
Google and Meta can both claim the same order, and neither one subtracts your COD returns, which are common across India.
Use this list of other performance marketing mistakes to check your own account.
Your landing page has a low conversion rate, so good clicks go to waste.
The agency holds your ad accounts in its own Business Manager, so a switch could wipe out years of history.
Your GSTIN isn’t on your Google Ads account, so you lose the GST credit businesses in India can usually claim.
Your budget is spread across too many ad sets, so none of them leaves the learning phase.
You track cost per lead (CPL) without checking lead quality, so junk leads look like wins.
Your search terms include “digital marketing agency in mumbai for freshers” style job searches. Add negative keywords for jobs and salary.
Your finance or property ads launched before verification or MahaRERA checks.
Your agency’s fee rises with spend, so nobody on its side argues for spending less.
And you test language as a targeting box, not as creative. A Marathi ad that reads like a translation usually loses.
You can check most of these in an afternoon. Start with the first two, because they cost you money each day.
