The industrial belt buys on specs
Suppliers in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan sell to engineers who search by part, grade and application. That needs product and application pages, not a brochure site.
PUNE ASKS IN MARATHI TOO. Be the answer in both.
A plant buyer in Chakan, a CTO in Hinjewadi and a parent choosing a college all ask the AI first now. I’m Akshit. My team gets Pune brands ranked on Google and named in ChatGPT and Google’s AI answers, in the language their buyers use.
When a Pune founder calls me, I first ask which Pune they sell into. There’s the industrial belt around Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan, where buyers are engineers with a spec sheet. There’s Hinjewadi and the IT corridor, where buyers compare vendors on a laptop between meetings. And there’s the city of colleges and coaching classes, where the buyer is often a parent reading at night.
Each of those buyers searches differently. Each now asks ChatGPT or reads Google’s AI Overview before they ever call you. And a growing share ask in Marathi, because Google’s AI answers in Marathi now.
Most SEO I see in Pune is written for none of them. One homepage, a few blog posts, a keyword list. It ranks for phrases nobody buys from, and the AI answer names someone else.
So here’s how I work. We find out who the engines name for your category today, fix the site underneath, and build the pages and mentions that make the web agree you’re the answer. I’ve watched this pay off with an ecommerce brand we work with. In 2024, AI assistants sent it zero sales. Today AI search is a seven-figure sales channel for it.
One honest note. We’re based in Gurgaon, at WeWork Forum in DLF Cyber City. We work with Pune brands by appointment, mostly on video. Request an appointment and I’ll show you your own AI answers on screen.
Pune’s buyers are engineers, tech teams, students and parents. Here’s what I look at before I plan anything here.
Suppliers in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Chakan sell to engineers who search by part, grade and application. That needs product and application pages, not a brochure site.
If ChatGPT doesn’t name your firm when a Hinjewadi buyer asks for a vendor, you’re off the shortlist before the first call. So the work is vendor proof: case pages, comparison pages and mentions on the sites the AI cites.
Google suggests “engineering colleges in pune with good placements” and “mba colleges in pune with fees”. Institutes that answer those questions plainly, on a page per course, get into the answer.

Google added Marathi to AI Mode in October 2025. Google also suggests Marathi searches such as “पुण्यातील सर्वोत्तम अभियांत्रिकी महाविद्यालये” (the best engineering colleges in Pune). If your buyers ask in Marathi, your brand facts need to exist in Marathi too.

We ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI the 100 questions your buyers ask, three times each, and show you how often you’re named against your real competitors. That’s your Share of Decision, and it’s the number we move.
One page per product line, grade or application, with specs, standards and drawings stated in plain text the engines can read. That’s what an engineer in Chakan searches for, and what the AI quotes.
Case pages, comparison pages and clear service definitions, so when a Hinjewadi buyer asks the AI for a vendor, the web has a reason to name you.
Course, fees, eligibility and placement pages written to answer the real questions, with every claim backed by the latest completed academic year.
Marathi pages written by people who speak it, not machine translation, for the audiences who search that way. Your name, address and category kept identical in both.
The same questions rerun every month beside Search Console and GA4. You see what moved, what didn’t, and what we’re doing about it.
Two brands we work with. The ecommerce brand is the clearest example I have of AI search working. TalentGum, a kids’ learning brand, ran SEO, PR and paid media as one system and tripled its domain authority.
In 2024, AI assistants sent this ecommerce brand zero sales. Today, AI search is a seven-figure sales channel for it.
A kids’ learning brand went from one market on Meta to a global acquisition engine. Customer acquisition up 40x in 18 months.
REAL QUESTIONS, ANSWERED PROPERLY
The one that can show you its work on a business like yours and won’t promise you a ranking. Every list of the top 10 SEO companies in Pune is written by someone with a reason to put themselves on it, so the list won’t answer this for you.
Google suggests “top 10 seo company in pune” and “best seo agency in pune” as you type, which tells me how many people are stuck at this step. The problem behind the question is that agencies all sound the same on a sales call.
So test them on Pune specifics. If you’re a supplier in Pimpri-Chinchwad, ask how they’d structure product pages for engineers. If you run an institute, ask how they handle placement claims. If you sell IT services from Hinjewadi, ask who ChatGPT names for your service today, and how they’d change that. Then ask for the first 90 days in writing, who exactly does the work, and whether you own Search Console, GA4 and your Business Profile from day one.
The failure mode is choosing on price or on the boldest claim. Google’s own guidance says no one can guarantee a number one ranking, so a guarantee is a warning sign, not a feature.
My rule: pick the agency that is most specific about your buyers, not the one with the biggest promise.
You need a team that understands Pune’s buyers. It doesn’t have to sit in Pune. Most SEO work happens in Search Console, on your site and across the web, not in a meeting room.
I’ll be open about us. We’re based in Gurgaon. We work with Pune brands by appointment, mostly on video.
What matters more than distance is local knowledge. Google’s own advice to people hiring an SEO is to ask about their experience in your country or city. For Pune, that means knowing that people search “seo company in pimpri chinchwad” and “seo company in baner” as separate places, that an industrial buyer and a parent need completely different pages, and that some of your audience asks in Marathi.
The failure mode on both sides is the same. A local agency that never leaves its template is no better than a remote one that never learns your market.
If you only need help with one Business Profile in one neighbourhood, a local freelancer may suit you better. If you need to win across Pune and in the AI answer, look for depth first.
My rule: judge the plan, not the postcode.
It works by matching how engineers and buyers search, which is by part, material, grade, standard and application, not by your company name. Google suggests “seo for manufacturing companies” and “seo services for manufacturers”, so plenty of plant owners are asking.
The problem I see most in the Chakan and Pimpri-Chinchwad belt is the brochure website. One page of capabilities, a PDF catalogue, a contact form. The engines can’t read a scanned catalogue, so the specs your buyers search for are invisible.
Here’s what works. One page per product line or application, with the specs, tolerances, materials and standards written in plain text. Industries served, each with its own page. Photos and drawings with proper descriptions. Clear details on minimum order and lead time where you can share them. And mentions on the trade directories, associations and B2B marketplaces your buyers already check, because AI engines lean on those sources.
The failure mode is measuring traffic. A manufacturer might get a few dozen visits a week and still win big orders. Track requests for quotation and drawing enquiries instead.
Expect a long cycle. B2B buyers research for weeks before they write, so judge the work at three months and the results over six to nine.
My rule: write for the engineer with the spec sheet, and the AI will follow.
Answer the questions students and parents actually ask, with numbers you can prove. Pune is crowded with institutes, and the ones that state facts plainly are the ones the AI quotes.
Look at what Google suggests: “engineering colleges in pune with good placements”, “mba colleges in pune with fees”, “best coaching classes in pune for neet”. Those are the real questions. Most institute websites bury the answers inside PDFs or skip them.
So build a page per course with fees, eligibility, intake, admission route and dates. Publish placement data with the batch size and the academic year. Keep your Business Profile current for each campus. And get mentioned on the education portals and news sites the engines trust.
There’s a trust layer too. ASCI’s guidelines for educational advertising say claims about placements, salaries or rankings must relate to the latest completed academic year and be backed by evidence, and they bar “100% placement” style claims. Those rules are written for ads, but I’d hold your website to the same standard. AI engines and parents both notice when numbers don’t add up.
The failure mode is a hoarding-style website, full of slogans and topper photos, with no answers.
My rule: if a parent can’t find your fees and placement record in one click, neither can the AI.
Yes, if your buyers search in Marathi. No, if they don’t. The answer depends on who buys from you, not on the city.
Google added Marathi to AI Mode in October 2025, and its autocomplete returns Marathi searches about Pune, such as queries for the best engineering colleges in the city. For consumer brands, clinics, schools, coaching classes and anyone selling to families, Marathi content is worth testing. For an IT services firm in Hinjewadi selling to global clients, English will carry almost all of it.
If you do it, do it properly. Machine translation reads badly and often uses words nobody searches. Many people also mix scripts, typing Marathi words in English letters, so check what your audience actually types before writing anything. Start with the pages that matter most, like your main services, fees or locations, and keep your business name, address and phone identical in both languages.
The failure mode is translating the whole site once and never touching it again. A few strong Marathi pages that stay current beat a hundred stale ones.
Here’s a quick test. Ask ChatGPT and Google’s AI Mode your main buyer question in Marathi and see who it names.
My rule: write in Marathi where your buyers ask in Marathi, and write it like a person would.
Published Indian retainers run from about ₹8K a month to ₹300K and above, and where you land depends on how competitive your category is and how much real work is inside the fee.
Google suggests “seo cost in pune” on its own, so price is often the first filter. The problem behind the question is the fear of paying for months and getting a report instead of enquiries. One Indian agency guide says plainly that packages under ₹15K a month are usually activity-based rather than outcome-based, and I agree.
Cost also depends on which Pune market you’re in. A single-location clinic in Kothrud needs far less than a component maker targeting buyers across India, or an institute competing for admissions with dozens of others.
For transparency, here’s how we price. Every engagement starts with a $1,500 Share of Decision audit, credited to your first month if you continue. We scope the retainer in writing from what the audit finds, and it covers SEO and AI search together. We’re not the cheapest option, and if your budget is small, a good freelancer and a well-kept Business Profile may serve you better.
The failure mode is comparing packages by counts of posts and links instead of by problems solved.
My rule: never pay for a retainer whose deliverables you can’t list.
Only where you have a real presence, and only if your listings and pages earn it. Distance is one of the things Google weighs for local results, and you can’t change where you are.
Google suggests “local seo company in pune” and even “best google my business seo company in pune”, so Maps visibility is clearly on people’s minds. Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad are separate cities with separate searches, and someone in Wakad sees a different Maps pack from someone in Hadapsar.
Here’s what moves it. A complete Business Profile for each real location, in the right category, with current hours and photos. Reviews from real customers, answered by you. A page on your site for each area you serve, with content specific to it, not the same text with a locality swapped in. And your name, address and phone identical across every directory.
The failure mode I warn people about is fake addresses. Creating listings at places where you don’t operate breaks Google’s rules, and it can take your real listing down with it.
If you’re a manufacturer, local SEO matters less than you think. Your buyers are often in other states. Product pages carry more weight.
My rule: one honest listing per real location, and pages that earn the rest.
Because ChatGPT doesn’t copy Google’s rankings. It builds its answer from what many sources say about you, and your own website is only one of them.
I hear this a lot from B2B and IT services firms. They rank for their service, yet when a buyer asks the AI for vendors, it names larger players or firms that get written about. Studies of AI citations keep finding that many of the pages AI engines cite don’t rank in Google’s top ten for the same question. Third-party mentions carry weight: review platforms, comparison articles, industry press, partner directories and forums.
A few technical causes come up often too. Your robots.txt may block AI crawlers. Your services may be described in vague marketing language the engine can’t match to a question. Or your company details differ between LinkedIn, your site and the directories, so the engine isn’t sure who you are.
Start by asking ChatGPT and Gemini the ten questions your buyers ask. Note who gets named and which sites get cited. Those sites are your target list.
The failure mode is publishing more blog posts on your own site and hoping. Volume on your domain won’t fix a lack of mentions elsewhere.
My rule: rankings get you considered. Mentions get you named. You need both.
